Magnetic Stripe Tickets Migrate to Breeze Card
The State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA) and Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA) recently voted to fully migrate Xpress magnetic stripe passes to a Breeze Card. This means that Xpress customers can use their Breeze card for payment on MARTA and Xpress. The Xpress pass, the magnetic stripe pass used to pay for Xpress rides, will be accepted until December 31, 2018. The benefits of using one Breeze Card for both MARTA and Xpress include:
· Balance protection if a card is lost or stolen
· Faster boarding with a “tap and go” technology
· Reloadable so there’s no need to get a new card each time you take transit
· Free transfers as SRTA customers can transfer to MARTA for free
All Xpress passes, regardless of expiration date will no longer be accepted after December 31, 2018. Xpress passes cannot be transferred to the Breeze Card. Beginning January 1, 2019, passes will be electronically uploaded to a customer’s Breeze Card instead of receiving a magnetic stripe pass every month. Employers will provide newly programmed Breeze Cards once available.
Monthly and 10-trip Xpress passes are available on Breeze. The pricing will not change, but the Green Zone calendar monthly pass will drop from $100 to $90. To learn more about the Xpress to Breeze migration, visit www.XpressGA.com or 844-XPRSSGA (977-7742).
