U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has been an active Georgia Commute Options partner since 2013 and since that time have accomplished and maintained Platinum Partner status. HUD states that “the partnership not only benefits our employees, but, additionally, the goals and missions of both Georgia Commute Options and HUD work hand and hand to compliment the tasks and work performed by both partners.”

Currently, more than 26% of HUD employees use one or more clean commute option. HUD’s comprehensive telework program, is often combined with commute options such as carpools, vanpools and transit to reduce pollution as well as vehicles our region’s roadways while realizing a substantial cash savings. In 2014, Georgia Commute Options summarized the following results for HUD employees who logged their commutes:

  • 346,260 vehicle miles reduced
  • 11,173 vehicle trips reduced
  • 140.41 tons of pollution saved
  • $180,055 total fuel and maintenance savings
