Rising Star: Partner Champion
Amber Weaver - Dekalb County Government
Amber Weaver serves DeKalb County Government as the Director of Energy and Environmental Management and has worked as the County’s point of contact with Georgia Commute Options for nearly two years.
Amber is a passionate advocate for sustainability and has been invaluable in furthering commute options programs at DeKalb County Government. She has played a role in implementing both compressed work week and telework policies for county employees — and, most recently, Amber has been working tirelessly to develop a vanpool program at DeKalb County Government.
By partnering with Georgia Commute Options, Amber has coordinated multiple lunch-n-learns and over 15 tabling events to reach employees and raise awareness. In addition to events, she spends a significant amount of time each month sharing content and collecting information to assist carpools and vanpools with formation and rider recruitment. She has really gone out of her way to get the DeKalb County Government’s Georgia Commute Options program off the ground and make it successful. Amber is the reason that DeKalb County Government’s first vanpool hit the road in September 2014.
Amber has also worked with Georgia Commute Options staff to develop and implement an Idle Reduction Program for DeKalb County Government’s fleet of over 3,000 vehicles. Not only does she see the environmental benefits of promoting commute alternatives; she also believes in the program’s ability to make a positive impact on the lives of DeKalb County employees.
Congratulations to Amber Weaver for winning the Georgia Commute Honors award for Rising Star: Partner Champion!
