You have questions, we have answers. 

That's right, we just launched the brand new app, GAcommuter, to help improve your commute. It's available on Apple and Android devices, making it even easier to log your clean commute trips and find ridematches.

Q: Can I submit applications for Gimme Five, $3 A Day, $40-$60 Gas Cards or Vanpool Rider Referral through the app?

A: No, not just yet. You can, however, create an account, log, and find ridematches. You’ll need to apply for certain incentive programs here.

Q: How many days can I log at a time?
A: Just like with the web version, you can log today and up to 7 days in the past.

Q: Do I still have to log online?
A: No, all of your commute logs made on the app are also visible on the website. And vice versa.

Q: What if I don’t want to be contacted through the app?
A: Go to your Profile where you can control how much information is shared. 

  1. Press the blue circle button in the bottom left of your screen.
  2. Select Profile.
  3. Then simply slide the button left to de-select “Allow other users to email me.”
  4. You can do the same under your phone number for “Allow others users to call me.” 

Q: Is this like Uber? If I call someone will they come pick me up?
A: No, this app is a device for arranging carpools based on mutual need — not finding rides for hire. Once you’ve got your list of potential ridematches, it’s up to you to make a plan that works for everyone involved.

Q: Can I find my other clean commute options, like riding transit, on the app?
A: Not yet — but luckily can help you find transit options! Or feel free to look around this site for help finding all other available clean commute options.

Q: I don’t have a profile. Can I create one in the app?
A: Yes! Just tap “Sign Up Now” and enter all of your information to create your profile. Once you get started, you can log in using Facebook as well. That’s just one less password to remember.

Q: Are there push notifications to remind me to log in the app?
A: No, but you can create an email or text reminder.

Q: Where can I find my carpool matches?
A: Press the blue circle button on the bottom left and tap “Matches” at the top. You can sort by distance from work or home, set Favorites, or check your messages.

Q: Who are my Favorites?
A: You can Favorite someone by tapping the star under their picture in your match list. This saves them for the future if you’d like to remember commuters you can connect with for carpooling.

Q: How do I send messages to my matches?
A: It's super easy:

  1. Tap the blue circle button on the bottom left, then tap “Matches” at the top of the menu.
  2. On the top left, tap the pencil icon.
  3. In the “To:” field, start typing the name of the person you wish to message or select them from the list that appears.
  4. Then type your message in the field below and tap Send when you’re done.

Q: I can see my past logs in “History,” but how do I select the current day or week?
A: Tap the blue circle button on the bottom left and select “Commutes” in the center of the menu. That will show you the current week and allow you to log.

Q: Are my templates from the web platform available on the app?
A: Yes! They’re already loaded and ready to be used. You can also create new templates in the app that will appear on the web platform.

Q: How do I create a new template?
A: If you need to create a new template just follow these simple steps:

  1. Tap the blue circle button, then select “Templates” from the menu.
  2. Tap the + on the top right and follow the steps to name your template, choose a commute mode, enter a distance and choose your trip type (usually “To Work”).
  3. Then you can select add a step to create a roundtrip commute (To Home) or if you use different modes, add each leg to work and each step back home.

Q: Can other users see my home address?
A: No. For the safety and privacy of all users, home addresses are not shared and on the maps only an overview is shown, never your home or street.

Q: What is Georgia Commute Options?
A: An awesome set of free services that help improve how metro Atlanta gets to and from work. We offer cash and prizes to commuters that choose alternatives to driving alone — and our services help make that switch as easy as possible. To request information about our incentives, send an email to with the following information: your first and last name, email address, work zip code, and a description of how we may help you.

Q: How much does it cost to find a ridematch?
A: Nothing at all — our ridematching service is totally free.

Q: Can I pay for my carpool through the app?
A: No, you and your carpool partners create an arrangement that works best for you.

Q: How do I know that the people I’m matched with are safe?
A: Similar to a first date, we encourage commuters to schedule a meeting with your new carpool partner in a safe, public area to discuss your carpool arrangement and get to know them through the messaging feature of the app. Similarly, we can arrange a “Meet Your Match” event at your worksite, where commuters have the opportunity to find others that live close to them and work in the same office.

Q: Why can I only log my commutes within seven days?
A: We limit the time frame for logging in order to help everyone remember how they traveled to work more accurately.

Q: Do I have to log in using Facebook?
A: Nope! You have the option to log in using Facebook and remember one less password — but you don’t have to. You can create a login simply using your email address and a password.
