Celebrate World #CarFreeDay with GCO!

Being “car free” may seem intimidating, but with some thought and preparation, it can be totally doable. That’s why we’re inviting you to take on the challenge! This Sunday, World Car Free Day, is an excellent way to dip your toes into the world of clean commutes by relying on your own two feet – or wheels –  to get around town! Don’t know where to start? Here’s some inspiration:

  • Instead of driving to the Falcons game and paying for parking – take MARTA along with other fans and start a group cheer along the way. Did someone say #RiseUp?
  • Finding a parking spot at your local grocery store on a Sunday afternoon is not an easy feat. Avoid the stress by walking or biking to the store – tote everything home in a cart or a basket on the back of your bike.
  • Rally the family for some family fun! Take a walk through the neighborhood and play a few games along the way. Let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a good game of “I Spy?”
  • Buddy up with a friend or loved one and have a relaxing picnic in the shade at Piedmont Park – plan your perfect picnic with these tips.

Living without your car CAN be easy – that’s why we’re challenging you to erase the doubt in your mind and celebrate! Ditch that vehicle and get moving – and if you feel so inclined – snap a #CarFreeDay selfie for the chance to be featured on our Instagram and/or Facebook story.

And, who knows, this may encourage you to incorporate a clean commute into your daily routine and earn prizes along the way.

While you’re here – check out our Biketober challenge which encourages participants to bike as much as they can from now throughout the month of October. This challenge raises awareness around clean commute options, helps to reduce CO2 emissions and participants can snag themselves an Edison Electric Bike along with other awesome prizes.
