SOAHR into Modern Workforce Scheduling

More than 800 people attended this year’s SHRM-Atlanta Annual Conference, SOAHR. Held at the Atlanta Convention Center by AmericasMart in downtown Atlanta, the two-day event brought together HR leaders for networking and learning. The venue featured more than 50 speakers exploring innovative ways to transform Atlanta’s workplaces and workforces, including the highly anticipated and well-attended panel discussion on approaches to modern workforce scheduling with Roz Tucker, Atlanta Regional Commission’s Mobility Services Director.

Tucker was joined by fellow panelists Cliff Cor, Vice President of Customer Success at Feathr, a nonprofit marketing platform; Ryan Marshall, Chief of Staff at Nowsta, an employee scheduling platform and software; and moderator Emily Best, Founder and CEO of Seed&Spark, a crowdfunding entertainment platform.

As organizations strive to enhance productivity, employee well-being, and overall efficiency, they face a myriad of new workforce scheduling challenges that extend beyond the conventional 9-to-5 paradigm. Attendees were treated to a thought-provoking dialog on alternative scheduling methodologies, flexible work arrangements, and the integration of advanced technologies to create a more adaptive and responsive work environment. This session invited industry leaders, experts, and innovators to explore the dynamic landscape of contemporary workforce management strategies.

Georgia Commute Options (GCO), a commuter program managed by the Atlanta Regional Commission, has a strong partnership with both SHRM and Atlanta-based employers who take corporate social responsibility to heart, working to get more single-occupant cars off the roads to improve commutes and air quality for the region’s residents. GCO provides free services for employers and rewards for commuters who choose clean trips over driving alone.

The presentation helped generate interest and traffic to GCO’s booth at the Regional Partner Showcase, where Worksite Advisors met and spoke to attendees about the many ways that offering a commuter benefits program can help businesses cater to a critical need within their workforce, attract and retain talent, and stay competitive in their industry.
