Taking Transit During COVID-19
Transit is an integral service for people across metro Atlanta. So, if you are returning to transit, keep these tips in mind to help you stay healthy.
Commuter Tips
- Follow the instructions listed on signs from the transit provider
- Maintain social distancing while waiting to board transit, during boarding and exiting, as well as while riding
- Wear a mask for the duration of your ride (recommendation, not a requirement)
- Be flexible, as you may need to take a later bus or train to comply with social distancing
- If possible, adjust your work schedule to allow you to take transit outside of peak hours
- Avoid touching surfaces, if possible
- Use touchless payment options wherever possible
- Carry hand sanitizer with you and apply after touching handrails or other surfaces, as well as after you exit the train or bus
- Skip a row between yourself and others, if possible
- If you need assistance riding transit, bring a member of your household to assist you to avoid additional interactions with people outside of your household
- Review provider websites to make sure you know their policies or schedule adjustments before riding
Employer Tips
- Share communications from transit agencies with your employees
- As a larger worksite, consider notifying local transit agencies that you are reopening your worksite so they can consider adjusting nearby service to meet your needs
